CHD stats

Even with how we feel about the term "Congenital Heart Defects," (see About Us tab) it's important to know we are not alone in the challenges we face.  We try not to expend too much energy focusing on all the "what ifs" since we firmly believe in a good God who has good plans in store for Jacob.  We are confident that God will provide all that we need no matter what we face.  We try to stay focused in the right ways, and we appreciate that we live in a world where many families face the same challenges.  These are staggering statistics that many people don't know...

According to the American Heart Association and the Adult Congenital Heart Association:
  • Congenital heart disease is the most common birth defect.
  • Up to 1.3 million Americans alive today have some form of congenital heart defect.
  • In the United States, about 36,000 children are born with a heart defect each year.
  • At least nine out of every 1,000 infants born each year have a heart defect.
  • There are an estimated 750,000 adults with congenital heart disease in the United States.
